The deplorable state in Nandi County’s biggest health center – The Kapsabet Refferal Hospital shocked governor Cleophas Lagat during an impromptu visit. The state which struck his eyes were the cries of three expectant mothers with labour pains stationed in one bed, inside a maternity ward without lights and dried water taps. The darkness, filthy sheets and blankets, and suffering patients became a puzzle when the county’s health sector received a whooping Ksh 1,200,000,000 on the current financial budget.
New patients to be admitted are currently being asked to buy blankets.

With county nurses threatening to go on strike next week on Monday, situation is deemed to worsen since challenges faced by the health workers never seem to be addressed after several strikes in 2015.
