The battle between Aaron Cheruiyot a.k.a Kiptoyiot and Paul Sang has featured on national headlines and is likely to change the way bigwigs perceive Kenya’s politics. The young Cheruiyot of the Jubilee Party won party nominations beating hands down the seasoned politicians Franklin Bett, Margerer Langat among others.

With the Slogan #KiptoyiotKomasKasiit, Aaron will face off on March 7 with former Cabinet Minister Paul whose KANU party is also gaining support in the South Rift. Bomet governor Isaac Ruto’s party; Mashinani Development Party of Kenya jointly with KANU are both fronting Paul’s ChamanBuch slogan.

Isaac Rutto has accused Jubilee and the IEBC of plotting to rig the Kericho and Nyangores by-elections due for February 12 in favour of the party’s candidates.

He said rigging in Nyangores would be to the favour of Jubilee’s Richard Leitich and against Mashinani Democratic Party aspirant Andrew Maritim, whom he noted was popular.

Rutto told Jubilee the Kipsigis community is not for sale and that its members cannot be influenced to vote contrary to their choice. “Today’s Kipsisgis are different and cannot be compared with those of yesterday’s politics who were made to sing the tune of planted individuals in the electioneering process,” he warned.
